MoCap animations for the hotel industry

Mocap animations

Character animation plays a crucial role in VR training, particularly when it involves human interaction. If the characters' movements aren't realistic, it can break the learners' immersion and diminish the effectiveness of the training experience. To address this, CyberSun has established a state-of-the-art studio dedicated to recording high-quality animations using professional actors, ensuring that every interaction in the VR environment feels authentic and engaging.

  • Improved Learner Engagement
  • Efficient Content Creation
  • 3D Avatar Creation

Project

The VR training is tailored specifically for the hotel industry, aiming to provide a highly immersive and realistic learning experience. At the client's request, CyberSun was tasked with creating lifelike 3D avatars, bringing them to life through detailed animations. This endeavor required the development of hundreds of unique scenes and animations, each meticulously crafted to simulate real-world situations encountered in the hotel environment. Our focus was on ensuring that these virtual interactions were as engaging and authentic as possible, enhancing the overall training effectiveness for hotel staff.

Solution

In the initial stage, the team collaborated with the client to develop the instructional design, establishing the visual style for the environment as well as the main and background characters.

With the script finalized, it was time to bring the characters to life! Professional actors portrayed the roles in the VR training, providing authentic performances for the motion capture process.

A team of 3D artists, character specialists, and animators then crafted detailed avatars and applied motion capture animations to enhance realism.

The result was an immersive and engaging VR training experience, meticulously delivered to meet the client's objectives.

Studio details

The main focus of the studio is the real-time optical motion capture of objects, with the capability of subsequent digital reproduction and transferring all motion parameters to virtual models. The principle of operation is based on the camera's registration of reflected infrared light with a wavelength of 850 nm. After capturing the reflected IR points, the camera's built-in processor calculates and transmits the flat coordinates (as well as a monochrome image) to the software computational complex up to 360 times per second. The computational complex receives data from all cameras over a 10 Gbit/s Ethernet network, processes it, and outputs the spatial coordinates of each reflected point in real time.
